Yoruba activist and Traditionalist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has reportedly been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the West African country.
The Yoruba Nation agitator was nabbed on Monday night after fleeing Nigeria to evade by Nigeria’s secret police.
According to reports, Igboho had perfected plans to secretly escape from Nigeria through Cotonou and was said to be heading to Germany, where his family resides and was, however, arrested by secret police in the neighbouring country.
Recall that the Department of State Services had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives raided his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
However, one of the lawyers, Pelumi Olajengbesi, representing Sunday Igboho and his arrested aides told newsmen that he had not confirmed the news of Igboho’s arrest in Cotonou.
“I will contact Yomi Aliu (SAN) to verify the news,” he said.
