FG Declares Wednesday, Thursday As Eid-ul-Fitri’s Public Holidays

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Wednesday and Thursday as public holidays to mark the 2021 Eid-ul-Fitri celebration.

This was announced on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The declaration was made through a statement released by Dr Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

In the statement, Aregbesola congratulates Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitri and also called on all Nigerians, both home and abroad to utilize this year’s celebration of the occasion to pray for peace, stability and economic transformation in the nation.

The minister also urged all Nigerians to abide by the law of the government and embrace the spirit of love, self-discipline, kindness, and tolerance, as taught by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).

Speaking further, Aregbesola called on all security agencies in the country to be more patriotic and develop more courage to tackle the ongoing battle against persisting insecurity and activities of criminal elements in the country.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, and the holiday begins according to the sighting of the new moon.
