France Football has reportedly announced the date for the award ceremony of the 2021 Ballon d’Or and also disclosed that two Ballons d’Or awards would be handed out in this year ceremony that is slated to hold at the French capital.
According to French publication L’Equipe, the ceremony of the 2021 edition of the award will take place in Paris on December 5, and France Football has prepared to hand out two prizes on that date in the French capital for the first time in the award’s history.
Reports also have it that the reason for the presentation of two awards was due to the cancellation of the 2020 Ballon d’Or because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the 2019/20 season, Robert Lewandowski led Bayern Munich to victories in Bundesliga, the German Cup and the Champions League with 55 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions, but France Football has announced it has cancelled the award for the year 2020 before the season was restarted and completed.

With his stat in the 2019/2020 season, it’ll be the Poland international who will, apparently, take the 2020 edition of the award in December, while, Lionel Messi is believed to be the favourite to claim it after winning the 2021 Copa America.
