The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has acquired 300 million litres of petrol to level up the gap created by contaminated petrol withdrawn from depots and filling stations.
This was announced on Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, Bashir Ahmad via his official verified Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
According to him, NNPC ordered six vessels of PMS which arrived in Nigeria with 300 million litres of petrol. He added the acquirement is meant to cover the gap generated by tainted petrol restrained from depots and filling stations.
Ahmad noted that the report was disclosed to him by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority ( NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed.

Recall that one of the Nigerian top News Outlets, Peoples Gazette reported in January that Bashir Ahmed had been secretly appointed by President Buhari as manager of a lucrative petroleum ministry department, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). A role which they described to be higher than his work experience and area of expertise.
Peoples Gazette also gathered that Mr Ahmad’s employment was temporarily described as a secondment to help him acquire quick wealth before 2023 when he would be asked to move DPR permanently.
This may, however, be part of his work as the manager of the lucrative petroleum ministry department.
Mr Ahmad is a graduate of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University Kano. He has never before worked in an oil firm or acquires vital training in hydrocarbon regulations.
