Social media have been set on fire since when the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo declared his intention to run for presidency come 2023.
Osinbajo, while making the declaration, noted that if he’s allowed to rule as the Nigerian President he will build on President Buhari’s legacy and continue the good work the president has been doing for the past seven years.
However, Nigerians read different meanings to Osinbajo’s declaration speech as those who seem to have belief in the Vice President keep celebrating him for coming out straight to declare his intention to run for president while many others described his speech as nothing but empty promises.
They chided the vice president for speaking for seven minutes without stating any tangible thing he has achieved in his 7 years of service as the Nigerian V. P., but only making empty promises. They went on to describe his speech as empty as his boss, “President Muhammadu Buhari’s WAEC certificate.”
Osinbajo, having declared his intention known, will now face the likes of his former boss, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, the present Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bellow, in the All Progressive Congress, APC, primary election to fight for the presidential ticket.
See below the people’s comments about Osinbajo’s speech:
“Osinbajo’s declaration speech was emptier than Buhari’s WAEC certificate! He talked for almost 7 minutes and could not name one tangible achievement. Only promises. After 8 years. Name one promise and its fulfilment from that speech, and I will pay you $1000”Reno Omokri, former Media Aide to Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan
“@ProfOsinbajo VP Yemi Osinbajo declaration is the most nauseating set of lies ever packaged! He even said he plans to build on the success of the @mBuhari regime. What an insult? Buhari’s successes are insecurity, terrorism, lawlessness, economic disaster #WeCantContinueLikeThis.”Omoyele Sowore, the AAC Presidential Aspirant
“Nigeria is morally bankrupt that a pastor, a professor, a lawyer and a SAN is standing on dead bodies and swimming in the tears of suffering Nigerians to declare for president. Osibanjo has no iota morals or spirituality in him. I said it.”FS Yusuf
Osinbajo is a Nigerian Pastor, a Nigerian politician, a Nigerian lawyer, a Nigerian Lecturer, I can never trust that man.@Onflood_
“Number 2 wey no fit do anything for 7 years no go do anything when him become number 1 sha.”@the_Lawrenz
“Osinbajo said he “remained focused on securing the country”. That’s an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians. Under Osinbajo and Buhari, Nigeria became the 3rd most insecure nation on Earth. If that is what Osinbajo’s focus produces, then more of it will kill us!”Reno Omokri
Declaring to run for president and outrightly telling Nigerians that their outcries against a state failure ain’t valid! Blatant nonsense and insensitivity. Osibanjo’s declaration speech has posed enough red flag that we all have to very wary of.@FS_Yusuf_
