Reno Omokri, a former aide to Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has urged other southern zone to learn one or two things from the southwest rather than tolerate separatists and insurgents.
The social activist established, in a statement released via his official Twitter handle, that the welcoming attitude of the people of the southwest, and their ability to manage diversity and maintain a reasonable level of peace and stability in the region is why Dangote decided to build his $19billion refinery there.
Omokri stressed that due to the level of peace and attractive environment in the southwest, the newly commissioned Dangote refinery can operate from Sunday to Saturday, without anybody disrupting their operations.
He added that if all regions emulate the southwest, Nigeria would be far ahead in development. In his tweet, he wrote:
“Let me appeal to the other southern zones to learn a thing or two from the southwest. Some of us also have seaports and oil. We would have been more ideal for this $19billion Dangote Refinery. But because we tolerate separatists and insurgents, the biggest single investment in Nigeria’s history has eluded us, and gone to a region that had the sense and leadership to arrest a traditional ruler within hours for threatening to bring the type of people that have made his own region almost a no-go area to Lagos. The welcoming attitude of the Yoruba, and their ability to manage diversity, and maintain a reasonable level of peace & stability in the Southwest is why Dangote parked his $19billion there. He can operate from Sunday to Saturday, without anybody disrupting his business. If we were all like the southwest, Nigeria would be far ahead in development.” -Reno Omokri
