Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), has reportedly apprehended a Nigerian man alongside one other for allegedly having mephedrone worth Rs 37.5 lakh (N20,678,162.13) in Navi Mumbai.
Yahoo News has gathered that the Ghatkopar unit of the ANC on Friday evening laid down a trap near the Agarwadi bus stop on Sion-Panvel Highway in Govandi on Friday evening, based on a tip-off and arrested Francis Augustin D’Souza, 29, with 45 gm of mephedrone.
Mephedrone, also known as drone, White Magic, or meow meow is a synthetic stimulant drug of the amphetamine and cathinone classes. It is chemically similar to the cathinone compounds found in the khat plant of eastern Africa.
Acting on the information supplied by the arrested accused, the police unit set another trap near Juinagar railway station and caught a 39-year-old Nigerian, identified as Richard Tony, and recovered 205 gm of mephedrone.

According to an official of the police unit, the NCA team affirmed, during interrogation that the duo was involved in smuggling, transportation, and distribution of the drug.
He added that a case had been registered in this regard under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
