A factional chieftain of the Labour Party, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, on Thursday, stated that the party is on the verge of losing the only state it won during the governorship elections.
Arabambi said this during a recent press conference briefing.
According to him, a Federal High Court in Kano has nullified all Labour Party’s primary elections in Abia State because the party breached the electoral act by not submitting its membership register to INEC 30 days before the primaries, adding that, going by the court’s ruling, Labour Party may lose the Abia governorship seat it won in the March 18th election and he blamed Peter Obi and the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure for it.
In his words, Arabambi said, “What we are saying is that we are now on the verge of losing the only governor that we have due to incompetence of Abure the suspended national chairman in connivance with Peter Obi. We need to break the news that Abure has made Labour Party lose that governor that we have, that is Alex Otti because the Federal High Court in Kano has ruled that we did not comply with the electoral act that says you ought to submit your membership register to INEC 30 days before primaries so that they will know it is your member that elected your representatives, but this is what we failed to”.
