NiDCOM Reacts as Nigerian-American, Ezeonu Wins U.S. Council Election.

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated a 22-year-old Nigerian-American, Steve Ezeonu who won the Grand Prairie City Council election run-off in Texas, United State of America.

Abike Dabiri sent the congratulatory message in a statement released by Head of Media and Public Relations of NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, noting that Ezeonu’s victory was hard-earned but well-deserved.

In the statement, it was revealed that the young Nigerian-American earned 3,903 votes to beat his closest rival Greg Giessner, who garnered 3,720 votes in the June 5 run-off.

The election saw Ezeonu of Democrat getting 51.2% per cent of the votes, while Giessner has 48.8%.

The NiDCOM chairman reiterated that by emerging victorious, Ezeonu proved “hard work and dedication to duty pay.” She said she was not surprised by the victory, noting that the young man’s resilience, doggedness and dedication have contributed greatly to his success.

Abike Dabiri, therefore, urged other Nigerians to imitate Mr Ezeonu and word hard to excel in their pursuits because “hard work is the key to success.” She also urged them to continue to demonstrate the spirit of resilience imbibed in Nigerians.

The NiDCOM chief advised Ezeonu to fulfil all his electoral promises to the electorate and she appreciated the Nigerian community in Texas for giving him their maximum support.

Abike Dabiri revealed that she had contacted Ezeonu earlier before the election to give him words of encouragement and support.
