A member of the Nigerian main opposition Party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and an ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Bemigho Reno Omokri, has condemned the reasons Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade claimed to have prompted him to defect to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, saying it is sarcastic.
This was disclosed in a statement he released today via his official verified account on microblogging and social media platform, Twitter.
Recall that Gov. Ben Ayade has decamped to the ruling APC after a closed-door meeting with six APC governors, declaring he needs to work with President Buhari in his quest to drive up the fortunes of the country.
But Reno Omokri in a statement released today via a post on his official Twitter page, @renoomokri, disclosed that Ayade allegedly said President Buhari’s nationalistic tendencies are the main things that attracted him to the ruling APC.
The ex-aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan debunked the claim that President Buhari is nationalistic, saying the man that moved against the only Southerner heading an arm of government, CJN Walter Onnoghen and replaced him with Northerner, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, can never be referred to as nationalist.
Reno, therefore, declared Ayade’s claim as nothing but ironic, stylishly saying the Cross River State governor defected to the ruling APC because of his self-interest.

Ironic that Governor Ayade of Cross River claims he joined the APC because of General @MBuhari’s ‘nationalistic’ tendencies. Buhari is so nationalistic, that he moved against CJN Walter Onnoghen, from Cross River. The only Southerner heading an arm of government#TableShaker
