Report has emerged that the runaway leader of the proscribed Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been re-arrested by Nigerian government.
The announcement of his arrest was made by the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malamu in Abuja on Tuesday, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Although, the details of his arrest was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, but it is in the open that Kanu was put on trial on charges bothering on terrorism, treasonable felony and sponsoring of unlawful organization in a Federal High Court in Abuja, where he was later granted bail.
Nnambi Kanu has been on the run after jumping bail granted to him by Justice Binta Nyako on health ground. However, the justice of the Federal High Court has, therefore, revoked the bail on 28th of March, 2019 and issued a bench warrant for his immediate arrest in any part of Nigeria.
After announcing his arrest, the Justice Minister confirmed that Kanu will appear before the Federal High Court today for continuation of his trial.
