It is that time everyone in Nigeria needs to sit and think about why we are not getting it right as a Nation. Nigeria is so blessed with every resources any country will wish for, to keep developing and run successfully, but in our dear country, despite everything that we have, it is glaring that nothing is working the way it supposed to be.
What is our problem in this country? From my point of view, the three main reasons why the county is not moving the way we want are tribalism, religious discrimination and the high level of illiteracy, most especially, in the Northern part of the country.
Until when we learn, understand and believe that everyone in the country is brothers and sisters, no matter where we come from, we’ll stop having the problem of secessionism which is one of the major problems Nigeria is facing presently.
Secondly, Nigerians need to stop fighting each other because of religion. In the time of our forefathers, there is nothing like Islam/Christianity, they worshipped what they believe and we did not hear about any crisis in their time as per religion.
Being a Christian, Muslim or Traditionalist should not be a problem. What we need to pay more attention to, is how the country is being run by our leaders and whoever ruling the Nation, be it any religion has to be supported.
It will be hard for the country to be better until it is understood that government has nothing to do with religious beliefs but with what the leader has to offer.
From what Sanusi Lamido stated in the video below, the high level of illiteracy, most especially, in the north is the main cause of religious discrimination. If someone is learned enough, such a person will be able to differentiate between what is right and wrong. They can not be easily brainwashed and told to kill someone else who does not believe what they believe.
Have you ever wondered why someone will just stand up one day and say he/she wants to kill a fellow human being in the name of blasphemy? This is uncalled for!
Northern leaders are not vying for the leadership role in the country to develop their region but to enslave ordinary people at their end and use them as an instrument of the devil to enrich themselves.
Sanusi Lamido, when he was the Emir of Kano, was doing everything possible to ensure that ordinary people’s children in the region are sent to school so they understand that Islam is a religion of peace.
He kept saying it out and also implored the Northern leaders to stop brainwashing the younger generation and teach them the truth about Islam, not to make them become illiterates that can easily be initiated into terrorism in the future.
This allegedly led to a rift between him and some northern leaders who inflict others against him which eventually led to his dethronement. Sanusi did not deserve how he was being treated, we need somebody like him who knows the truth and is ready to say it out loud.
If everybody in Nigeria pursues education, we shall live peacefully. Let’s keep in mind that education is not only about going to school. It is rather replacing an empty mind with an open mind.
Let’s all seek to be educated and do away with the shackles called sentiments!
