Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, Ex-aide to the former president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri and other Nigerians have commended the microblogging and social media platform, Twitter for pulling down tweets by President Muhammadu Buhari, threatening genocide against the people of Igbo-dominated South-East.
It was reported that Nigerians on social media had called for the suspension of the Buhari’s account for saying ‘individuals or groups who wants to destroy his government will receive the shock of their lives” – a remark that was interpreted as a direct threat from the president to its citizens.
Following the crying of Nigerians on Twitter, asking for sanctions on Buhari’s official account, Twitter, however, deleted the tweet, saying it violated its rules.
This, however, drawn several reactions from Nigerians, with some saying Buhari’s threat should not be taken for granted.
Among the noticeable personality that reacted are a former presidential candidate and the owner of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, an activist and ex-aide to the former president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri.
Here are some comments Hotnewinnaija.com gathered on Twitter.
Twitter deleted buhari's tweet, this is why you can't blame jack for choosing Ghana as Africa's HQ over Nigeria,at the very least they can operate freely without external pressures from the government

Commendable that @Twitter has deleted @mbuhari’s genocidal tweet but Nigeria will never know peace until the people of Nigeria delete(s) the genocidal regime from its space- finally and permanently! #June12Protest #BuhariMustGo #RevolutionNow

I commend @Twitter for deleting @MBuhari’s tweet threatening Civil War 2 on Nigeria’s SE. It was a most irresponsible tweet and Nigerians are grateful to @Jack for talking that action. But please do not stop there. Delete his account. Buhari is a menace to the world#TableShaker

I am a Yoruba man, any attack on an Igbo is an attack on Nigerians.
No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian.
