Manchester United Fans, following their defeat to Atletico Madrid, in their Tuesday night UEFA Champions League match, attacked the club manager, Diego Simeon, immediately after the referee had blown the final whistle.
The fans of the English club threw drinks onto the field towards Diego Simeone after their loss to his side.
In viral video footage that emerges on the internet, United supporters were seen throwing bottles at the Spanish club’s manager who wildly celebrated his side’s quarter-final qualification with their victory over the English club.
This could, however, lead to a hefty fine in the coming days for Manchester United who was been evicted from the European most prestigious tournament.
The Colchoneros secured a 2-1 win on aggregate over United thanks to Renan Lodi’s first-half goal, and they defended their lead secured shortly before the end of the first half throughout the second half in a manner that enraged United’s supporters, players, and coaching staff.
The match witness a number of bad calls by referee Slavko Vincic, while the La Liga giant also wasted a lot of time with different antics, sparking a massive outrage across Old Trafford at full-time.
Meanwhile, Atletico manager, Diego Simeon, after the final whistle was blown by the referee, celebrated the victory in his technical area before sprinting towards the tunnel after Ralf Rangnick’s handshake.
On his way, he had bottles being thrown at him from the crowd, before the match officials received the same treatment moments after.
