The Assistant Captain of the Nigeria National Team, William Troost-Ekong, has, on behalf of all the Super Eagles players, apologized to the people of the country for their failure to qualify for the Qatar 2020 FIFA World.
Troost-Ekong, following the disappointment encountered in their qualifying match against the Black Stars of Ghana, has taken to his official Facebook page to tender the apology, saying it was a bitter pill to swallow but he’s believe the Super Eagles will be back better and stronger.

Ghana, in their game plan, ensured they held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw at Kumasi and in their return leg at Abuja, they secured a 1-1 draw, getting a vital 1 away goal which is enough to send them to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Watford FC defender, in a statement released today on social media, appreciated Nigerians for their overwhelming support and, as well, tender an apology for not securing the World Cup ticket.
Troost-Ekong stressed that, as Nigerians, the team share the same emotions as every other people in the country and they take responsibility as a group.

He also expressed his thanks to the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and the Minister of Sport, Sunday Dare, who put so much effort to secure the qualification.
The Statement reads:
“To all Nigerians, on behalf of the team, we want to apologise for not securing the World Cup ticket.
“Despite giving it everything possible, it wasn’t meant to be.
“First and foremost, as Nigerians, we share your emotions and we take our responsibility as a group.
“We sincerely thank the Nigerian fans for their overwhelming support, the NFF President who did everything possible to make the qualification happen and of course the Minister.
“A bitter pill to swallow but believe me we will be back better and stronger!
