Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate minority leader, has charged the Federal Government of Nigeria to respect the rights of the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, disclosed, on Tuesday that the leader of the separatist group, Kanu was captured through the collective efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.
After this announcement, there have been several reactions from dignitaries across the country, the spokesman of the secessionist group as well as from international communities.
In 2015, Kanu was arrested and was charged with a treasonable felony but he had jumped bail in 2017 and fled abroad following the military action, code-named “Operation Python Dance”, that targeted his family house in Abia state.
Reports have it that Kanu was lured to an African country with a promise of cash donations worth billions of dollars before he was captured and extradited to Nigeria.
