Ethnicity & Religion Politics Played By Peter Obi Was A Setback For Us, We Lost Our Experience – Adamu

Adamu

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has confessed that they learnt an important and unfortunate lesson in the 2023 presidential election because the ethnicity and religion politics played by the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi resulted to a setback to him personally and at a point, they all lost their experiences.

Senator Adamu said this on Friday while speaking during an exclusive interview with a Nigerian media outlet, Daily Trust.

During the interview, Senator Adamu also debunked the allegations raised by Peter Obi that the election was rigged, while stating that Bola Tinubu would have won Lagos, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Gombe, Katsina and Yobe of the election was rigged.

He continued by revealing that though there were other factors in the election that were also relevant in the election, he stressed that the ethnicity and religion politics was the number one that was a misstep decision that the APC took. He advised the all politicians who are desirous of deepening democracy in this country to take a very critical look at this situation to get the country out of this mess of religious and ethnic politics.

He said, “Ethnicity and religion politics that Peter Obi played was a setback for us, we lost our experience. It remains the important and unfortunate lesson we have learned in APC because ethnicity and religion have been brought to the forefront, far beyond what had been our experience before now. No matter what you think of the other factors that are also relevant to the election, that step that our people took is, for me, a setback. We do hope and pray that all politicians who are desirous of deepening democracy in this country will take a very critical look at this situation to get the country out of this mess of religious and ethnic politics”.
