Nigerian Indigenous rapper and songwriter, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, popularly known as CDQ has berated Nigerians who are picking favourites among the singers in the Nigerian music industry instead of enjoying and supporting all of them.
CDQ said this in a statement released via a tweet posted on his official verified Twitter handle, @cdqolowo.
The rapper condemned the mentality of people who are attacking each other on social media in the name of being a member of Wizkid FC, 30BG or whatever the symbol of the fan base of their favourite singers, saying it is becoming more toxic than the good and it has to stop.
Mr Sodiq showed his concern about how Nigerians used to become jealous of each other instead of coming together to support their artists against outsiders, adding that it’s supposed to be us against them, not us against us.
CDQ was prompted to say this because of the social media brawl between the fans of the two Nigerian Afrobeats superstars, Wizkid and Davido after the formal was nominated for Grammy Awards and the latter was featured in an official Qatar 2022 World Cup soundtrack.
It would later lead to a superiority debate and criticism between those fans and even the artists themselves and CDQ has however urged them to stop the quibbling and come together to enjoy the good music they are producing rather than claiming superiority.
