A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Jubrin Samuel Okeputa has reacted to a claim suggesting that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola disguised himself in a wheelchair to have a meeting with President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu abroad, saying “those promoting such news are sick.”
The SAN who lamented over the lack of respect attributed to the legal profession in the country called for sanctions over the false reports.
Taking to his verified Twitter page, he said, “The legal profession is sick and on oxygen in Nigeria. The ethics and etiquette of the profession are gone. No sanctions. Otherwise, how do we explain the news making the rounds even among lawyers that a whole Chief Justice of Nigeria disguises himself to meet a named politician?”
“And some Nigerian lawyers are posting it. What a shame So because CJN was seen on wheelchairs, it means his lordship is disguising himself to meet politicians. What a sacrilege. Why did the legal profession deteriorate to this level?”
I’m addition, he further claimed, “Nobody is feeling bad that the CJN may not be well and had to be on a wheelchair. No empathy. But we can speculate on an unfounded and unverified story. No reasonable person should promote falsehoods. I think those promoting this news are sick. We must not destroy our judiciary.”
