A Nigerian economist, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu, has responded to a Tweep who specially begged him on microblogging and social networking platform, Twitter, to help create a consortium of investors to buy his beloved Football Club, Manchester United.
In the tweet, the concerned Manchesterr United fan said:
“Chairman @TonyOElumelu please create a consortium of investors and buy @ManUtd. Please sir we’ve suffered for too long.”
Reacting to this, the founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation via his official verified Twitter handle @TonyOElumelu, gives a pleasant response, saying he knows that Manchester United has a strong and supportive fan base, and added that even though any investor would like to own a piece of big project like that, he doubt he can cope with the global sport politics.
The tweet reads:
“lol. I know Man United has a solid fan base that is fiercely loyal to the club. Any investor will jump at an offer to own a piece of it… but global sports politics???
This is quite interesting. Isn’t it?
