VIDEO: Oluwo of Iwo is a Mediocre, He is Indirectly Rubbishing His Forefathers – Yemi Elebuibon

Oluwo of Iwo vs Elebuibon

Oluwo of Iwo vs Elebuibon

Yemi Elebuibon, a renowned and foremost Ifa Priest, has described the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Rasheed Akanbi, as a mediocre who only has crass knowledge of Yoruba history and cultural heritage, and only dishing out gilbberish in his unguarded attack of the Yoruba traditional religion that even the monarch’s forefathers guarded jealously in their lifetime.

The Araba of Osogbo said this while granting interview with the BBC Yoruba, noting that Oluwo’s condemnation of the sacred belief that his ancestors, those who have been kings before him, held on to in their lifetime has only exposed him as a son who is indirectly taking his ancestors for a fool.

Elebuibon frowned at the manner the Oluwo always takes jibes at the traditional worshippers, saying he doesn’t have a pedigree of a First Class King in the class of the Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife.

Araba of Osogbo clarified that becoming a first class traditional ruler in Yorubaland requires some traditional rites that will make you go neck deep in Yoruba traditions. He made mention of the Alaafin of Oyo and Ooni of Ife, among others, as the king in that calibre, but not someone like the Oluwo of Iwo who is more of a modern King with poor knowledge of Yoruba tradition.

In his word, Elebuibon stated: “Anyone who condemns the way of his ancestor is merely saying that his forefathers are fools, and when a son calls his father a fool, he is probably a bastard.”

Elebuibon concluded that the Oluwo of Iwo is only doing the bidding of those who are out to rubbish Yoruba tradition and heritage. And as a King who ordinarily should be a father to all religions in his domain, Oba Rasheed has only shown to the people of his town how not to be an ideal king.

Ifáyẹmi Ọ̀ṣundàgbónu Elebuibon is a Yoruba and Nigerian writer, poet, author, linguist, and a world-famous Ifa priest. His plays and films have received worldwide acclamation for his pursuit of the preservation of Yoruba culture and heritage.
