President Muhammadu Buhari media aide, Femi Adesina, has berated those trying to cause commotion, disunity and dismemberment in Nigeria, saying they are only struggling in vain.
Adesina disclosed this when he received in his office at Abuja, the audience of the Black Apple Media Group, a production outfit devoted to making movies and documentaries in support of Nigeria’s unity and peaceful coexistence. He gives accolades to the production outlet, saying their kind of initiative is the one that every good Nigerian should be happy to hear about and support.

The presidential aide noted that President Buhari has worked tirelessly to keep Nigeria united. He narrated how the president once trekked from the South-Eastern part of the country to a place called Gakem near the Cameroonian border, all for Nigeria’s unity. He said:
“Do you think somebody like that will sit idle and let some people try to dismember the country?”
“Anything that will promote our nationhood, that will promote our unity, is something that we should all support and encourage.

Adesina stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had always been committed to the unity of the country, noting that Buhari had joined the army at the age of 20 and by 25 he was already at the civil war fighting for the unity of Nigeria. He added:
“Mr President himself has always said it that for three years that the war lasted, he was there throughout, he didn’t go for any break, he didn’t ask for any pass, he was at the war front.”
The spokesperson said those who fought the civil war, wouldn’t sit back idle and watch the country disintegrate. “Our anthem says the labour of our heroes past can never be in vain. Those were the ones who have fought to keep Nigeria together.”

Adesina stated that originally, Nigeria used to be one and anything different wouldn’t be welcome in the country, adding that ethnic discrimination is not allowed because we are one. He said:
“You are from here, you are from there, we were all together, all the ethnic groups in the country, there was no difference.
To now see some things happening is confounding to us.”

“That is why we must commend an initiative like this, anything that will promote unity, that will promote togetherness, that will show the evil of Fake News, Hate Speech is something that will be supported, so I want to assure you that as the Media Office of the President, we will support this initiative,” he added.
The spokesperson concluded that he’s confident Nigeria will be together, saying those who are trying to cause “cause commotion, cause disunity, cause dismemberment, are only struggling in vain because it will not happen. He thank the Media Group audience who went to his office and appreciates their initiative. He, therefore assure them of the presidency’s support.
