Soludo vs Peter Obi

The Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has said that he would rather leave public office than adopt deceit, ‘which most Nigerian politicians are known for’.

Professor Soludo disclosed this on Monday in an article titled: ‘History Beckons and I will not be Silent’ and released via all his social media pages.

In the article, the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor vowed to be honest with his thoughts and would never give room to any form of manipulation by people just like almost every other politician.

The article reads;

“I am not an Angel but rather than knowingly repeat the same deceitful character that politicians are known for, I would leave public office. It is a vow I made to my God and to my family.

“Only God knows how many days I will be on this seat but whether I am on it or not I will always say it as it is— knowing fully the suicidal consequences of telling the truth in a political arena, especially in a country where lying and deceit by politicians have become culture and celebrated as being “smart”,” Soludo said.

Governor Soludo has come under attack from ‘Obidients’, a sobriquet coined and adopted by followers of Obi to show their support for the 2023 presidential ambition of the 61-year-old. It followed the governor’s comments during an interview on a national television where he alleged that the investment of the Labour Party presidential flag-bearer in the state government is “worth next to nothing”.
