A man identified as Abdullahi Isa has reportedly been arrested in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for locking his wife up for 2 years without giving her food.
According to Daily Post, the also dehumanised her wife with the condition he put her in. During police interrogation, he revealed why he locked up his wife for such a long time.
According to him, he had locked her up without food for two years because she is tormented by an evil spirit. He further claimed that all the seven children they have are dead and it was after this that his wife started getting tormented by an evil spirit. Based on reports the woman was found by Women and Childrens’ rights activists when they were conducting some awareness around the area. It was at this moment that residents took them to the poor woman and revealed that it was neighbors who usually sneak in to feed her.
He said, “The reason why I locked my wife up for two years is because she has been tormented by an evil spirit. We had seven children together, but they are all dead”.
