Eight Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Osun.

Police in Osun State disclosed that its officers have nabbed eight members of suspected kidnappers who relocated to hide in the state following their operating in Benue.

The suspects are said to have confessed to had killed four victims in their last two operations.

Police in Osun announced the arrest of the kidnap syndicate in a statement issued by its spokesperson in the state, Yemisi Opalola on Saturday.

The police spokesperson, in his statement, said the took place on Friday at Omo Ijesa village, following credible intelligence reports.

According to premiumtimesng.com, Opalola stressed that the suspects confessed to have killed their last victim, a 65-year-old Akiishi Catherine, and three others in their previous operations following the rigorous investigation of the Police.

In her words:

The suspects were arrested on May 7, sequel to credible intelligence the command received and acted upon in a follow-up on a case of the kidnap of a 65-year-old, Mrs Akiishi Catherine in Benue State.

The spokesperson also disclosed that the operation was led by the Commissioner of Police in Osun, Olawale Olokode. She added:

Prior to the arrest, police investigations revealed that the suspects relocated to Osun after the kidnap of the woman as a deceptive tactic to avoid arrest by the police in Benue.

The suspects have also planned to use Osun as a haven for the negotiation and collection of ransom even after murdering the woman in cold blood.

The suspects will be handed over to the Benue Police Command as soon as preliminary investigations are concluded’’, she said.
