Guinness World Records, in a statement released to confirm it has officially recognised popular Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci as the world record holder for the longest cooking marathon, revealed that the celebrity chef’s cook-a-thon was so popular that they had much traffic to their site, and it crashed.

GWR disclosed further that Hilda’s cook-a-thon made their website crashed for two days as a result of the immense volume of traffic that they received from the support shown by the legion of Hilda’s loyal fans.

The organisation also explained that the Akwa Ibom-born Chef miscalculated his cook-a-thon duration which is why they had to deduct hours from her 100-hour cooking challenge and reduce it to 93 hours and 11 minutes.

In their post, “After reviewing all the footage, we’re delighted to announce that Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual) 💫”

Hilda, 26, began on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint. She has now broken the previous record of 87 hours, 45 minutes set in 2019 by Indian, Lata Tondon.
