Femi Fani-Kayode

As the general 2023 Presidential election is around the corner, the former Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Special Assistant to Olusegun Obasanjo, Femi Fani-Kayode while speaking with the Channels Television has reacted to the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, saying that the ticket is an issue of choice as far as he is concerned.

According to his words, he said, “The most important thing and the greatest danger to the national unity as far as am concerned, and we have been saying this over the years, is the situation whereby power does not shift to the South after eight years of a Hausa Fulani man ruling the country, it was a given, we must have a power shift, that was the most important thing and APC decided to do that, and they have come up with a candidate.

Now, the choice that the candidate make are the choice he is comfortable with, obviously, there are issues with that, any Christian who tells you he or she is happy with the Muslim-Muslim ticket of APC cannot be a real Christian, but as far as am concerned, this is just an issue of choice.

We have 22 Christian governors, and that should tell you that this country cannot be Islamized, and APC is not interested in doing so as well. You talked about Islamization, the candidate returned schools to the missionaries in Lagos, something that has never been done before, the candidate gave land to many Christians to build their churches when he was the governor.

In the North, I met with him, the Vice Presidential candidate himself, Kashim Shettima, and for over three hours we talked, I looked the man’s eyes, I raised a question which I needed to be satisfied, and I was satisfied with his answers, he has built many churches in Borno State more than any other governors before him”.
