A Nigerian preacher, Charles-Philip Okiemute, has claimed that anyone who has up to one million naira in his bank account on the day the trumpet sounds when the rapture happens will not make heaven, Daily Post has reported.
The rapture is a Christian doctrine that teaches that a day would come when saints in Christ would hear the sound of a trumpet and would take off in transformed bodies in a gravity-defying flight to meet Christ in the cloud.
The preacher made the statement in his sermon at The Ark Of God Endtime Ministry in Lagos.
He could be heard in a video currently trending online saying that earthly wealth is worthless in heaven.
Elaborating on the subject matter, the cleric berated a Nigerian musician, who he failed to name, for acquiring a luxury car for a gargantuan N900 million, saying such could eradicate poverty in the musician’s village.
He queried the essence of spending such a humongous amount of money on a car, wondering if the singer would drive it to heaven.
He said:
“I dey social media, one musician buy car of N900 million; for one car! And customized his plate number. So, I asked myself, ‘This car, you go drive am enter heaven?’
“They said Nigeria is poor and one musician in Nigeria used N900 million to buy car. That N900 million he fit carry enter him village, he go give all his village people. Their village no go poor until dem die again.
“Any man wey get N1 million for him account before trumpet sound, you no dey go anywhere. Because that money is not useful in heaven or hell.
Translation:
“I saw on social media that one musician bought a car for N900 million and customized his number plate. So, I asked myself, ‘This car, will you drive it to heaven?’
“They said Nigeria is poor and one musician in Nigeria used N900 million to buy a car. If he took the N900 million to his village and shared it among his people, they would never be poor again till death.
“Any man that has N1 million in his account before the trumpet sounds, will not go anywhere because that money is not useful in heaven or hell.”
