Insecurity in Niger state has taken a new turn as the State’s Information and Strategy Commissioner, Mallam Idris Mohammed, has reportedly been kidnapped at his residence in Baban Tunga area of Tafa Local Government on Sunday night.

Niger state has notoriously been in the news lately as a result of the numerous activities of the bandits, who have successfully unleashed different terrible attacks on the innocent people of the state.

But their operation this time was aimed at the State’s seat of power, and the victim is none other than the honourable Commissioner of Information and Strategy.

The unknown gunmen, suspected to be bandits, descended on the Baban Tunga’s residence of Mallam Mohammed, shooting sporadically in the air, and succeeded in abducting the Commissioner for Information and Strategy without any repulsion.

Mohammed was taken to an unknown destination, and no further information has been gathered from the bandits yet.

It was also not yet clear whether any of his family members has been contacted for ransom payment.
