Socio-political activist who is known for his fervent advocacy and commitment to social justice, Deji Adeyanju has thrown shade at Nigerians who are calling him to come out to lead a protest against the Nigerian government.
In Nigeria, the recent hike in petrol prices has inflicted hardship on citizens, leading to increased demands for accountability and protests against the government’s decisions.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians who know Deji Adeyanju to be a prominent activist have contacted him multiple times for a protest but the vibrant Nigerian youth has come out to raise his voice, calling out Nigerians for what he perceives as their selective engagement with political leaders and activists.
He took to his official Twitter handle to express his discontent with the apparent political apathy among Nigerians. In his remarks, he chastised citizens for only seeking out political leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi during elections when it is time to cast their votes. According to Adeyanju, such actions are akin to “wasting their votes.”
Deji questioned why Nigerians often turn to well-known political figures only during election seasons but seem to overlook their responsibility in holding these same leaders accountable during their tenure in office.
“Bloody clowns, when it is time to waste votes, they call on Atiku and Obi but when it’s time to die, they call Deji or SOWORE and others. Nobody is protesting for you guys this tome. Shebi it was you guys that started #EndSARS and not us, oya protest now; see opportunity”, He wrote via his Twitter handle
