The Chief of Army Staff, Attahiru Ibrahim, who was appointed on 26th of January this year by President Buhari, has reportedly died in a plane crash in Kaduna today.

The Beachcraft 350 aircraft, which is a military plane, crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday, claiming all twelve souls onboard including the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Attahiru Ibrahim.

According to the Punch, the ill-fated aircraft crashed at the airport’s runway about 6 pm, claiming the lives of every passenger on board.

Akin Olateru, the Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, confirmed that the entire twelve people onboard the aircraft died.

In a whatsaap note by Olateru, he said:

Beachcraft 350. 8 souls on board. Unfortunately all dead,” Olateru wrote in a WhatsApp note.

There was an earlier report that the Chief of Army Staff was in the company of his wife, but this information has been refuted to be false.

May the gentle souls of the dead rest in perfect peace.
