The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has berated his counterpart governors who are fond of rushing to President Buhari at the Aso Villa over any insecurity challenges in their respective states, saying they are only going there to take pictures with the president, instead of tackling the challenges head-on, The Cable has reported.
Wike disclosed this while speaking on Thursday during an interactive section with stakeholders, political leaders and some traditional rulers at the government house in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The governor, in his statement, said the baffling state of insecurity is a clear evidence that the country is under bad leadership.
He stressed that some leaders that should have been at the forefront of the campaign against the ills in the country have now choosen to indulge in sycophancy.
The Rivers state governor reflected that security in Nigeria has totally collapsed, citing the day-to-day slaughtering of the defeceless citizens on Nasarawa and Benue road as a testimony, and also making reference to how Boko Haram overran Niger state without any aid from the Federal Government, despite its proximity to the Federal Capital.
Gov. Wike also talked about Kaduna and Imo State where there are high level of insecurity, and accused the Imo state governor of politicizing everything that is happening in his state.
Speaking further, Wike berated his conterpart governors who, at every opportunity, rush down to Abuja to meet Mr president, only to get there and opted for a photograph with the president instead of finding solutions to the problems in their states. In his word, he says:
“You know you have crisis at your place; you can’t stay to solve it. But everyday, you go to see Mr. President so that the world will know that you are close to him.”
The governor, in the end, warned All Progressive Congress (APC) governors to stop claiming that their party has found solutions to the problems of hunger and unemployment, as they have done nothing related to that.
