The 47 years old BRT driver suspected to have been responsible for the kidnapping and killing of 22-year-old fashion designer, Oluwabamise Ayanwole, Mr Andrew Nice Omininikoron, has said that his bus was hijacked by some three armed men who threatened him with their guns to either cooperate with them or get killed.
The driver, who was arrested by the operatives of the DSS at his hiding place at Ososa in Ogun State, denied he had a hand in the killing, but said he was only coerced into cooperating with the perpetrators when they threatened him with their weapons.
In a viral video circulating on internet, Omininikoron stated that he was directed at gun point to go along Carter Bridge, where they asked him to pack and then dragged Bamise out of the bus before he zoomed off and escaped.
In his word: “I picked her from Chevron, and the other three guys on the way. when those guys show me their weapons as I was inside, I can’t be myself anymore,” Mr Nice said.
When asked if he had any connection with the perpetrators, he denied, saying he had never met them before.
The driver revealed that Bamise tried all she could to free herself frrom her killers, but that she was overpowerd and kept being dragged while he couldn’t render any help because of the weapon they were wielding.
The driver noted that just when he thought that Bamise was still holding on to the metal rail inside the bus and he attempted to zoom off, he was sad to discover that Bamise had already been pulled down the bus, and then he had no option than to leave her behind.
However, when asked why he fled into hiding instead of reporting to the police or his employer, the driver was said to have kept mum.
While only the account of the driver is not enough to ascertain the actual truth of the whole situation, more revelations would definitely come open as the police continue their investigation in the coming days.
