5 Bandits Killed, 18 Abductees Rescued As Troops Invade Bandits’ Camp In Zamfara.

The troops of the 8 division deployed by the Nigerian Army for clearance Operations against armed bandits have reportedly rescued 18 kidnap victims in Zamfara State.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig General Mohammed Yerima.

In the statement, it was revealed that the troops under “Operation Mutane” overpowered Bandits in separate gun battles, killed 5 of their Commanders and neutralized 48 others.

Yerima stated that, as it was directed by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, the Division had earlier launched Operation Tsare Mutane, which has been working seriously, to cub the widespread insecurity in the state.

He stressed further that The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division, Maj Gen Usman Yusuf launched the first phase of Operation Tsare Mutane which lasted from 23 March to 2 April 2021 in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.

Speaking on the success of the Operations they had embarked on, Yerima said the troops successfully cleared many bandits’ camps in Jaya, Kadaya, and Bayan Ruwa amongst several others.

He added that they were able to neutralize 48 bandits while the bandit’s leader in the area, Jummo sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

The troops rescued 18 kidnap victims from the bandits’ enclave. Eight AK-47 rifles and one G3 rifle, as well as one PKT and a Machine Gun, were recovered from the bandits,” he added.
