Crisis looms in Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, as the former Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has accused the Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemj, of insensitivity and high handedness in the way he speaks ill of the party ahead of 2023 general election.
The Senator stated this in his reaction to the statement credited to the governor of Ekiti calling on Nigerian youths to vote out APC in 2023 if they are not satisfied with their style of leadership.
In his reaction, the senator lashes out at the governor calling him a vicious leader and alleged him of intentionally trying to send the party into the dustbin of political irrelevance ahead of 2023.
Adeyeye, who also doubles as the National Chairman of the South West Agenda for 2023, (SWAGA), said that the unguarded statements of the Governor of Ekiti State was with a mission to set APC on fire.
In a statement issued by his Media Manager, Mr Gboyega Adeoye, Adeyeye expressed worry over the recent pronouncements and actions of the Ekiti State governor, saying his unguarded remarks smirks of quick and deliberate steps aimed at snatching victory from the mouth of APC’s nascent national electoral fortunes.
In his word, the senator said:
SWAGA is not unaware of the underground plots to frustrate the rising political profile of Asiwaju Tinubu in the south west and indeed Nigeria, as the undisputable choice to bring stability into our fragile democracy and lift the nation economically. We have tested the waters to see how a people so traumatised and choked in a party, are frantically wrestling to pull out of the terrible grip of the political Dracula of our time for a resting haven they have found in SWAGA.
Adeyeye described the political happenings in Ekiti under the watch of Dr Fayemi as absurd, noting that they are intended to “smash the eggs, kill the hen and out the entire poultry on fire”
He also called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to caution the Ekiti State Governor and place him under close watch over suspected anti-party activities.
Adeyeye lamented that the ongoing attempt to plunder and decimate the gains of the party in the current political dispensation and then leave the mess for the loyal party members to contend with is already in the open. He, however, vowed that such attempt would be resisted to safe the efforts of those who toiled to build our democracy.
His statement noted further that:
While we condemn the lingering undemocratic approach of Fayemi to issues in recent times and insist on a call to order, we enjoin our party men and women across country, to feel free to identify with SWAGA. SWAGA is APC and APC is SWAGA. There is no way a member can commit anti-party offence for favouring the presidential choice of a party man,” Senator Adeyeye said.
