A Yoruba Traditionalist and activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has demanded through a letter written by his lawyer, a huge amount of Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m) from the Federal Government for the damages caused by the men of the Department of State Security Services (DSS), who raided his residence.
Officers of The DSS, on Thursday, attacked the residence of the Yoruba activist in Ibadan, Oyo State, where they killed two of his aides and destroy some of the assets in the house.
However, the security agency later issued a statement confirming the raid, disclosing the killing of two of his aides during the gun battle between the DSS and nine of Igboho’s men, while they also allegedly declared the retrieval of arms and ammunition from his residence.
Sunday Igboho’s Lawyer, Chief Yomi Aliyu (SAN) of the Chief Yomi Aliyu & CO, on Saturday, in a letter titled, “Illegal gang grossly unconstitutional invasion of Sunday Igboho Residence,’’ demanded N500m as compensation for damage incurred by the DSS’ officers to his client’s exotic cars which included Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus car.

Aliyu also noted that the DSS carted away €1,000, N2 million, expensive jewellery worth millions, travel documents, Sunday Igboho’s iPhone 12 and phones of about 15 other people living in the house including those killed by the men of the security agency and other belongings that are yet to be identified, during the attack on his client’s residence.
“We hereby demand that the Federal Government orders an investigation into the actions of the various security operatives led by DSS that raided Chief Sunday Adeyemo’s house with a view to sanctioning them and release all the innocent people arrested and compensate the families of those murdered. Our client should also be paid N500m as reparation for damage to his exotic cars that include Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus Car. We also demand a public apology,’’ he added.
The solicitor stated further that the people of the country are aware that Sunday Igboho always preached peace and warned his followers never to engage in any violent act during his open crusade for the creation of Yoruba Nation as he only believes that it is God and the ancestors that will make it become a reality.

He added that he can boldly say that as people who followed Igboho’s campaign, even though, he’s not in support of dismemberment of Nigeria, that no casualty has ever occurred wherever such rallies were carried out and the rally must have been done in more than 20 Yoruba towns and cities as at date.
Aliyu now criticised the manner the DSS used to raid his client’s residence as no prior notice were issued to Oloye Sunday Igboho before the attack.
“No demand to enter was made but rather they shot their way into the house allegedly killing seven people though DSS spokesman admitted killing two people which involved an old imam that used to lead Muslim occupants in prayers and observing Tahjud at the time of the barbaric raid. A lady among the invaders was allegedly shouting, “If you get him gun him down,” he said.
The Lawyer also alleged that the men of the DSS were disappointed that they couldn’t allegedly find a single gun or ammunition in his client’s house, hence arrested two police escorts of Igboho’s guests and added their “guns to those harvested from their armoury to make members of the public believe that our client keeps militia or as stated by them, he is about waging war on Nigeria.
Aliyu debunked all the false allegations from the security agency, saying “people who know our client of over 20 years will testify that Igboho Oosa does not carry gun on his person!’’
