A member of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Ifagbemi Awamaridi has declared that he’s the authentic governorship candidate of the party, not Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour.
Ifagbemi who has presented his affidavit of non-withdrawal disclosed that he’s alive and he had never withdrawn from contesting in the Governorship election.
According to reports, Rhodes-Vivour only won Labour Party’s substitution primaries even when the originally INEC-recognized candidate did not withdraw his candidature.
HotNewsInNaija gathered that the substitution primaries held despite protests by the party’s INEC-recognised guber, Ifagbemi Awamaridi, that he has not withdrawn his candidature, was won by Chinedu Gbadebo with 111 votes.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who defected to Labour Party barely a month after losing at the PDP primaries, emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party by arm-twisting the original candidate who won the INEC monitored primaries.
Mr Rhodes-Vivour, 39, defeated Moshood Salvador at the Labour Party governorship substitution primaries held in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, 9th August, 2022.
He polled 111 delegate votes against Mr Salvador’s 102.
The substitution primaries held despite protests by the party’s INEC-recognised guber, Ifagbemi Awamaridi, that he has not withdrawn his candidature.
According to the 2022 Electoral Act, the only means of replacing a candidate before an election are through voluntary withdrawal or death.
Below is the affidavit of non-withdrawal of the original candidate:
