The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured justice for the 22-year-old fashion designer, Oluwabamise Ayanwole, who was allegedly murdered by a Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, Driver on her way from Ajah to Ota, Ogun State.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this in a statement released on Monday via his official verified Facebook page.
Bamise was reported missing after she left her work on Saturday, 26th February, aiming to transit to Ota, Ogun State where her sister is staying for the weekend.
According to reports, the deceased boarded a BRT at Chevron Bus Stop which is very closed to Chevron Estate where she was working as a fashion designer before she was killed.
Subsequent reports suggested that the lady was kidnapped by the BRT driver who carried her from the bus stop. This led to the outrage with #JusticeForBamise across all social media platforms.
Following this, the Department of State Security Services (DSS), swing into action and arrested the driver and two other persons linked with him.
However, the driver, during his questioning by newsmen denied killing the young lady. He noted that the lady was killed by three unknown guys who hijacked his bus with guns from him.
Reacting to the incident, Sanwo-Olu condemned the killing of the innocent lady, saying the life of every citizen of the state matters to the state government and the state do not take the security of their people for granted.
He, however, assured that the state government will not leave any stone unturned in the investigation and will make sure the security operatives arrest everyone found culpable in the kidnap and death of the innocent lady.

In his statement:
“Dear Lagosians, the life of every citizen of the state matters to us, and we do not take the security of our people for granted.”
“We will therefore leave no stone unturned in the investigations and arrest of everyone found culpable in the kidnap and death of Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola.”
Sanwo-Olu declared that the driver has been arrested and the state has instructed him to cooperate fully with security in their investigation to allow the serving of justice to anyone who was involved in the ugly incident. He added:
“The driver of the BRT bus involved in this unfortunate incident has been arrested, and the management of Lagos Bus Service Ltd have been directed to cooperate fully with security agencies in their investigations, so that the full weight of the law is brought down on everyone involved in this ugly incident.”
The Lagos State governor commiserate and prayed for the family of the deceased. He also assured them that justice would be served to anyone involved in her death.
“To Oluwabamise’s family and loved ones, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time, may the Almighty God console you. I hereby give you my word that JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED,” he said.”
He also told the people of Lagos state that he’s totally following the investigation and ensured that Bamise will get the justice she deserves.
“I also assure you all that the BRT services remain safe, despite this condemnable act.”
“Once again, my sincere condolences to the Ayanwola family.”
“May Oluwabamise’s soul Rest In Peace. Amen.”
