Nigerian social activist, and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has jumped into the debate of dual citizenship controversy circulating about Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying having a diplomatic passport is not proof of citizenship.
Reno Omokri started this on Monday in a tweet posted on his official verified Twitter handle.
The self-acclaimed table shaker explained that a country, or international organisation, like the United Nation (UN), or African Union (AU), can give diplomatic passports to persons working as an envoy of their President or leader.
In a previous post by HotNewsInNaija, we posited that “the Diplomatic passport was issued by the Republic of Guinea to Mr Tinubu as an advisor to the Ex-President Alpha Condé. It was issued to Tinubu to allow him function in that capacity.
“Having a diplomatic passport does not guarantee citizenship, as anyone can hold a diplomatic passport of a country without necessarily being a citizen of that country. It is purely diplomatic.”
And now Reno has shared the same sentiment.
