- Abba Kyari asked the court to grant him bail on health grounds.
A Federal High Court of Justice at Abuja has reportedly rejected the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari’s request for bail to travel for medical treatment.
The suspended police chief dragged the Federal Government of Nigeria to court today, a week after he was detained by the Nigerian anti-graft agency, NDLEA for involving himself in a 25kg cocaine deal.
Mr Kyari asked the court in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, to order the NDLEA to grant him bail for him to go on an urgent medical treatment, claiming to be suffering from chronic diabetes, which he said was threatening his life.
But Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo rejected the request plea in a motion ex-parte brought by Kyari’s attorneys led by Cynthia Ikena and asked that the anti-graft agency be put on notice about the proceeding.
Abba Kyari was suspended by the police commission last year following his involvement with an internet fraudster, Ramon Azeez, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
