Buhari Approves N75k Stipend For Education Students In Public Versities.

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has on Tuesday approved Seventy-Five Thousand Naira (N75,000) as a stipend to be paid per semester for students studying education in Nigerian public universities.

The president did not leave Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) students alone as Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) was also approved for them as a stipend per semester.

This was announced by President Buhari through Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, during the annual celebration of World Teachers’ Day at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

This development is part of President Buhari last year’s promises for the education section, to encourage youths to pick interest in the teaching profession and to excellent service delivery.

Mr Adamu, in his statement, said:

“Undergraduate students of B.Ed / B.A. Ed/ BSc. Ed in Public institutions are to receive stipends of N75,000.00 per semester while NCE students will get N50,000.00 as stipends per semester.”

The minister also confirmed that efforts were in place by the federal government to collaborate with the state government to grant automatic employment to education students after graduation. He added:

“The Federal Government should find the modality through which respective states’ governments could provide automatic employment for NCE graduates at Basic Education level.”
