LEADER of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye has been seen in a video endorsing a foremost All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for President.
The video, which seemed to be an interview the Professor granted Alaroye TV, showed him being asked who he was going to present if given the opportunity to name anyone for Nigeria’s presidency? Professor Banji, without even thinking it twice, named Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, saying the APC presidential aspirant has experience and guts to do thing differently, while acknowledging his very many achievements in Nigerian politics.
In his word: “If I am asked to present a Yoruba man to be made the President of Nigeria, I will simply choose Tinubu. Why? Because he has experience and he has gut. What he achieved politically in 2013 to 2014 is a miracle. Aaah!! How many of us has ever achieved anything like that? Professor Banji Akintoye exlaimed.
However, various reactions have trailed the video with Tinubu’s political enemies claiming the old man was quoted out of context, and thereby demanding for the full video of the interview.
Some doubting Thomases found it difficult to accept that Prof. Banji Akintoye, the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua and Yoruba self-determination agenda, actually beleives in the leadership capability of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They were demanding that for the full video of the Professor’s interview, thinking they will be able to find some faults with it.
While Baba Akintoye’s resolve on the self-determination agenda of Yoruba people remains unwavering as he continued to hammer his desire for Yoruba Nation in the interview, he, nonetheless, believes that Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu will make a good leader for Nigeria. He never thought it twice, when asked about this, before he named Tinubu as the only one who can provide the right kind of leadership for the nation. Baba unequivocally recognized Asiwaju Tinubu as an experienced leader with guts and intellectual capacity. Baba said it not once, but twice so that doubters would hear him very clearly.
