SADAQAH, in the modern context, is the act of rendering voluntary charity to the less privileged people, not only in wealth but in all the acquirement of life. According to the Quran, Sadaqah means voluntary offering whose amount is at the will of the “benefactor”.
In the month of Ramadan, aside from fasting and keeping off what was prohibited, Sadaqah is one of the good deeds that comes with bulky rewards. Give Sadaqah and Allah will reward you abundantly!
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said “Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire” (Hadith, Tirmidhi). He also said that Allah offers relief on the Day of Judgement for those who give sadaqah: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity” (Hadith, Tirmidhi).
