There is a say that “every day is for the thief while one day is for the owner.” This brings us to the story of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, Nice (Andrew) Omoninikoron, in Lagos who was recently arrested for allegedly killing a 22-year-old fashion designer, Oluwabamise Ayanwole.

Bamise went missing after she boarded his bus at the Chevron bus stop aiming to go to Oshodi where she’ll board a bus going to Ota, Ogun State to spend the weekend with her sister. A few days after, her dead body was found at Ebute Ero and this has led to the arrest of the driver whom she boarded her bus.

To affirm that Omoninikoron has not just started taking advantage of ladies who board his bus, another lady who is also the victim of his assault surfaced, declaring that she was molested and raped by the embattled BRT driver.

The PUNCH Metro gathered from the female victim who spoke exclusively with the interviewer of the Nigerian news outlet that she was raped by Omoninikoron on November 25, 2021.

The victim noted that she was prompted to speak about her encounter with the embattled driver because she want justice for Bamise who was just been allegedly killed by the evil BRT driver.

While narrating how the whole scenario occurred, the lady accused the 47-year-old driver of raping her on the BRT bus he was driving.

The victim who was a former salesgirl at a shop in Ajah disclosed that she boarded the BRT bus driven by the suspect after she closed from work around 8pm and the driver was to convey her from the Alesh Bus Stop in Ajah, to Jakande, along the Lekki Epe Expressway.

She stressed that while they were on the way to their destination the driver switched off the light of the bus, but left the AC on and when they approached the first toll gate coming from Ajah, he suddenly parked the bus and told her to come and sit at the front. He would then start asking her different questions.

According to the victim, Omoninikoron was seen using a drug but due to her pure heart, she thought he only parked just to take the drug before the time ran out. But a few minutes later the driver started making advances towards her and she noticed that his manhood has risen.

The victim stressed further that on seeing him coming towards her she became very uncomfortable and she wanted to drop down from the bus but the driver did not allow her to open the door. She added:

“He said he wanted both of us to go and chill and that he wanted to have sex with me, but I declined. Suddenly, he brought out a knife and dragged me to the back seat of the bus. He told me to take off my clothes, but I refused. He threatened to kill me. He tore my gown, forcefully removed the biker short I wore and raped me. I felt sad.”

The victim said that all her effort to call for help was in vain because Omininikoron parked the bus at a desolate location, adding even after he has raped her, he refused to let her go.

“He insisted on driving me to my destination at Jakande Bus Stop. When we got to my bus stop, he still didn’t open the door. He demanded my account number and started pleading over what he did. He said he wanted to send money to me to buy painkillers, she added.

She noted that she refused to give him her account number but the driver kept demanding and refused to open the door.

Speaking further, the victim said that the driver has seized her phone before he raped her and for her to have evidence against him, she gave him her account number and he sent N3,000 to her. After this he open the door for her and she left.

The victim said she was ashamed of what happened to her and she believed she could not get justice and therefore, she opted not to speak out about the incident but she saw his pictures trending on the Internet regarding the death of the lady (Oluwabamise), that was when she revealed to her friends that she knew him (Omininikoron). She added:

“After seeing his coloured picture, I went to my bank, requested my statement of account, traced the day he sent me the money, and it was the same name, Omininikoron Nice, which was in the picture circulating.

She stated further that after she told her friend about it, she was introduced to a human rights activist. She that she decided to speak out about the incident now because she wants justice for Bamise, in case some people are wondering why she’s just speaking about it now.

The victim concluded, saying “that man must not be freed because he is responsible for what happened.”

It was later gathered that the statement of account provided by the victim confirmed that Omininikoron truly sent a sum of Three Thousand Naira Only (N3000) to her on November 25, 2021, and a video clip of her torn clothes was also seen by the PUNCH correspondent who interviewed her.
