A tweep has stirred reactions on Twitter after he warned Nigerians in diaspora not to forget their root, because a day may come when they will desperately need Nigeria to get out of a crossroad.

He stated this in regards of the frightening war between Russia and Ukraine, and how Nigerians living in those countries are now at the mercy of Nigerian state to evacuate them from the dangeeous zones.

The events of the past few days have taught us a lot of lessons on why we need to value our country of birth, no matter the challenges she may be facing now. Wherever we may be and whatever we might have become in another man’s land, our country of birth may one day be our last resort at the time where there may be nowhere to run to.

Nigerians are scattered all over the world in search of greener pastures. Name anywhere in the world, you will find a Nigerian. However, some of them seem to loathe thier country of birth to such an extent that they feel they won’t need Nigeria again.

Ask those Nigerians in Ukraine today, they are living in fear, and now need their country of birth more than ever.

This is exactly the message the tweep is trying to pass across to everyone who always condemn Nigeria at the slightest opportunity, all in the name of being abroad. At the end of the day, they will come to realize that Nigeria is all they have at the darkest hour.

The tweet read thus:

“At the end of the day, no matter where you are, when push comes to shove, we’ll understand that Nigeria is all we have. Be mindful of the things you say about her outside. I remember @DrJoeAbah saying ‘when you japa, don’t tear your passport. You may need it someday.”
