Sanwo-Olu Extols Bill Gates, Dangote for Siting Developmental Projects in Lagos

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sung the praises of two businessmen and philanthropists, William Bill Gates and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for building developmental projects in his state.

Sanwo-Olu said this in a statement released via his official verified Facebook page, referring to the two successful businessmen as ideal personalities who believe in improving the societies and empowering the people living in it, with their business orientation.

The governor stressed that, with the help of the two billionaires, the endeavours of the state government to create a better society for the youths in order to achieve the recognition and validation the state deserves, has received a major boost after they have built two tangible and gigantic developmental projects in the state.

Bill Gates’ Microsoft, in an investment worth $100 million, has opened its African Development Center in Lagos, Nigeria which is the first of its kind in the whole of Africa. The centre will be used to facilitate the creation of technological solutions that will solve both African and global problems. It will also serve as a developmental scheme for the youths and made available employment opportunities for the young generation while also working with them to provide software engineering solutions to Africa and the world as a whole.

Dangote, on the other hand, built his Dangote Fertilizer Plant at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos and it was commissioned earlier this week. The fertilizer plant is said to have been built at a cost of $2.5 billion and occupies 500 hectares of land in the area. It was also gathered that over 3 million tonnes of urea fertilizer will be produced annually at the fertilizer plant.

Speaking about their good work, Sanwo-Olu described the two philanthropists as exemplary men who believe in making Lagos a megacity and have subscribed to the state government’s plans of taking the state to the next level and making its youths a reference point for innovation, creativity and resilience.

He added that the newly built fertilizer plant will not only give Lagos an economical boost but will also provide thousands of employment opportunities for the youths, and further put the state on the global map as a destination of choice for investments.

Dignitaries across the country, including the Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari rtd., were present at the commissioning ceremony of the multi-billion dollar Dangote Fertilizer Plant project sited in the most populous state in Nigeria.
